The landscape of higher education is changing, with questions of access and affordability constantly on the minds of students and educational leaders. Community colleges and universities are facing an array of disruptors, from reduced state funding and increasing student tuition, to the changing needs of employers and of students.

At the same time, the “traditional” college experience is evolving with a growing number of online classes, increasing student debt awareness, and a rebirth of career and technical education programs. To be sustainable in the future, colleges and universities need to adapt now.

Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Rob Manning will guide us through a conversation on the future of higher education in Oregon, including enrollment trends, budget constraints, access for all students, and share perspectives from current and future college students. Dr. Becky Johnson, Vice President of OSU Cascades; Dr. Shirley Metcalf, President of Central Oregon Community College; and Damon Runberg, Oregon Employment Department economist, will serve as expert panelists as we prepare for the students of tomorrow.
