At our December City Club Forum, moderator Dave Salciccioli (Coachwell) presentied current data from Gallup around Employee Engagement within the American workforce. Employee engagement can be defined as the extent to which employees feel passionate about their jobs, and express a high level of motivation and commitment to achieving the organization’s goals through their personal contribution. The current data shows that only 33% of the current workforce are considered to embody the definition above. Dave then discussed in brief five myths that we all must overcome if we want to truly create workplaces that foster and create high engagement.
At the core of each of us, we desire to experience a level of autonomy, master and purpose in our work. Speakers Patti Murphy (Hayden Homes), Gavin Hepp (Webfoot Painting) and James Barry (PacificSource Health Plans) gave practical examples of strategies they have applied to keep their employees engaged.
The forum then transitioned to conversations at each table, hosted by the current class of Leadership Bend and the end of the forum transitioned to an audience question and answer time.
