Fourth in a series of five candidate forums for positions on the Oregon ballot for the primary election, the Republican candidates for Secretary of State joined us to share their platforms. Candidates included:

City Club partnered with the League of Women Voters of Deschutes County to bring these forums to a livestream format. Democracy keeps going and civic engagement remains essential!
Candidates answered questions regarding their top priorities, healthcare privacy rights and reform, campaign contributions, gun control, the electoral college, as well as the future of eastern and central Oregon.

Jason A. Atkinson served as a senator in the Oregon State Senate from 2001 to 2013. He owns a business-consulting firm and produced the documentary A River Between Us, describing the Klamath Basin Comprehensive Agreement.
Cliff Bentz served as a senator in the Oregon State Senate from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, he served ten years in the Oregon House of Representatives. Cliff is an attorney specializing in water and tax law.
Knute C. Buehler served as the Oregon State Representative from 2015 until January 2019. He is an orthopedic surgeon and helped to found a medical clinic in Central Oregon that currently employs more than 300 healthcare workers.
David R. Campbell is a project manager with experience in supply chain management, materials management, and operations management. He as been a corporate merchant for a Fortune 50 company, and has managed large-scale telecommunications projects.
Glenn Carey served as a railway conductor for more than 25 years. He is currently the Oregon state legislative director for the railway union and is also a member of the Oregon Rail Advisory Committee.
Jimmy Crumpacker began his career in the private sector managing risk and investments. He is the founder and owner Crumpacker Asset Management, an energy investment firm.
Travis A. Fager is the general manager of a radio broadcast company. His professional experience includes working in national sales and distribution for Industrial Wood and Automotive Products and in regional and national business development.
Justin Livingston currently serves as a Bend City Councilor including Chair of the Bend Urban Renewal Agency. He is also a real estate broker with experience owning several small businesses.
Kenneth Medenbach is a woodworker, primarily building furniture, cabins and chainsaw sculptures. He has focused much of his time to federal property rights.
Mark R. Roberts is currently an online retailer. His professional experience also includes work as a small and medium-sized business owner, truck executive and safety compliance officer.
Jeff Smith is a programmer and engineer with experience in the aerospace industry. He owns an aerospace machine shop and is also an experience Oregon farmer.
